A very special print packaging project for Patron.

The Print Lady is about so much more than just printing ink onto paper. I can project manage and co-ordinate a whole job for you, meaning you get the best possible result, without having to get involved in the technicalities.

A corporate printing project with many varied elements…

My skills were recently put to the test by Fivebyfive Global Ltd, with a complex project for their client – Bacardi Patron Tequila. As a busy creative, digital and PR agency, the opportunity to outsource research into materials and processes, paper sourcing and lead times that worked with the client budget and time scale made perfect sense. They were able to use the Print Lady as an extension of their production department, whilst maintaining full visibility and ownership of the project throughout. Essentially - a win, win situation.

Premium promotional material with a beautifully bespoke feel…

Patron were hosting their 5 th annual ‘Patron Perfectionists’ competition, challenging mixologists to create the perfect Patron Tequila cocktail. The prize was a trip of a life time to the Patron Hacienda in Mexico so the stakes were pretty high and the related promotional material needed to be similarly premium feeling.

First up: a sample/invite pack  with 3 x miniatures of different varieties of Patron and an invitation to take part. This required sourcing a gift box, developing a branding solution (in this case foiling with the Perfectionists logo), printing an invitation onto metallic mirri board, sourcing branded stickers and packaging materials and collating and packing into packs, ready for shipping… all within a limited time line (phew). I was on hand throughout to check each element, making sure the required printing materials were where they needed to be, when needed and to make sure the packing was done with the attention to detail required for such a prestigious event.

The second part of the project was a ‘thank you’ gift for participants – which involved creating a custom branded box (copied from the standard Patron packaging but tailored to perfectionists), creating branded labels for the bottles and thank you cards to hold the branded pins which were to be included with the gift bottle. These were then packed for overnight shipment to each individual recipient which included ensuring that they would arrive in one piece, that the packaging was eco-friendly and recycled or recyclable (in keeping with the Patron brand ethics) and conducting a nerve testing ‘drop test’ to ensure it survived the couriers!

Print management from start to finish - with the personal touch…

Much thought was put into the finish of the final packaging – the aim being to create a matt feel that was understated and elegant. We opted for a matt laminated box with a simple logo on the face of the outer packaging. GF Smith Colourplan White frost was ideal for the label and thank you card and the smart black print produced a satisfying tactility and stylish contrast with the packaging outer.  Each bottle was carefully wrapped in black tissue paper and held in place within the gift box with the card and pin sitting on the top. All the research into packaging and discussion with couriers paid off as all the parcels were delivered and received with no breakages! Every step of the process was overseen and managed by the Print Lady – and all collation and packing was done at the Print Lady HQ. This meant everything was double checked before it was shipped and was stored safely and securely throughout (though I could have done with a Tequila myself after all that packing!)
